Wellness Wednesday - Running (Training Update - or Lack Thereof)

I don't have a race to recap this week, so I'm going to tell you a bit about my training in the last month. And let me tell you - I'm exhausted. For more reasons than just one.

I still have two races coming up

The first is the 3M Half Marathon, which is this coming Sunday. The timing was unfortunate in relation to this post, so I'll be recapping it next month. After that, I have the Austin Marathon, which will be recapped in March. And then I might take a little break from racing, or maybe just do some shorter races. I haven't decided yet. But I know this much:

There is not enough time in the day, the week, the month to get everything done.

I shouldn't complain. Things have been going really well. I got promoted at work (woo!), and my book is in the second round of edits with the publisher. But both of those things take extra time away from the training I should be putting in. Before the new year, I was able to get my three shorter runs in, plus a long weekend run. Now I'm lucky if I have time for one extra training run each week. I've started using the elliptical and the treadmill at our apartment complex so I don't have to drive to the park. I've been slacking off on cross training more than I should. I just don't have the time to do everything. And it's starting to wear on me.

I need a break from training for a while. So I'm going to take it. The marathon is just over a month from today, and then I'm going to switch my focus to my book launch and getting my feet back under me at work.

You've got to do what you've got to do, you know?

As for now, I've been training when I can. I ran with a group for my really long run this past weekend, and that was the only reason I got it in. I'm hoping to do a longer run tomorrow, but I just have a feeling it's not going to happen like I want it to. Things never do. But I spent 25 minutes on the stationary bike this morning, and H and I took the dogs for a hike yesterday after work. Things could be worse.

I just need there to be an extra hour or two in the day. Can someone make that happen? Please and thank you?
