At the end of each month, I'm going to review the books I've read that month and pick the cream of the crop--the book boyfriend of the month. I mean, it has to be a book boyfriend, because otherwise my husband would have to be my man crush every Monday, and I think y'all would get tired of hearing about that. So! Book boyfriends it is!
Drum roll please...
This month's book boyfriend is...
Tiberias Calore VII, aka, Cal from Red Queen and Glass Sword.
I can't deny that I'm Team Cal, even though I think the whole team thing is stupid and I wish I didn't have an OTP, but I do. I SO DO. I can't help it. I get so attached to characters in books that I find myself thinking about them for days, weeks, months afterward. So yeah, I ship Mare with Cal. Even though I hate Mare. Even though I think Cal deserves someone so much better than her. The way I read the book shows that they fit together in this way where they compliment each other, where Cal warms Mare's frozen heart and she lights Cal's darkness.
If you want to understand how I see Cal and Mare, listen to this. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.
I don't have a choice, but I still choose you.
That's Mare and Cal, at least how I read them.
So Cal is my very first book boyfriend to be featured on Manic/Man Crush Monday. And when King's Cage comes out and I get around to reading it, he may be back. I have many thoughts on Glass Sword, but I'm going to wait until a) the monthly roundup on this blog, and b) I have time to write a full review for Fangirlish. Many of the thoughts have to do with Cal and how I just keep loving him more and more as the series progresses. But like I said - I better leave that for now.
So. Now I'm having feels. I better go do something else. (Like socialize, because the Christmas celebrations are still happening!)
Do you have thoughts or feelings on Mare and Cal? Are you on a different team? I'm fascinated and curious - let me know what you think of this one!
