Oh my gosh, the last two days have been wonderful! I was supposed to write about a place I wanted to go this week, but I thought it would be more fun to write about the wonderful place I’m visiting instead. So, here’s what we’ve done so far. Saturday: Yesterday was all about food. Naturally. :) As soon as he picked me up from the airport, AM took me to In and Out, and guess what? I LOVE IT! The fries were so fresh and wonderful, and the burger was pretty tasty, and I can see what all the hype is about! Then we went to the beach, where I got to lay in the sun. I could feel my demeanor changing, if that makes any sense. It’s not like I’m less stressed or anything (I have a lot of homework to do, even though I’m on vacation), but they’re right about the Vitamin D in the sun. It makes me feel better. Happier. I need more sun in my life. Laying by the water yesterday made me realize that I should maybe think about investing in one of those sun lamps for the people with seasonal depression. Anyway! Then, AM took me to Balboa Island, where we ate at a frozen banana stand! Like in Arrested Development! If you don’t like or know the show, this will mean nothing to you, but I can tell you that we didn’t find any money. Unfortunately. I had a Balboa bar, which is a giant sprinkled ice cream bar on a stick. Delicious. Then we explored Balboa Island a bit, then we decided to wander around a mall for a bit. Then we went to Downtown Disney for dinner. Talk about crowds, though… I didn’t like that part one bit. We ate at Tortilla Jo’s, and there was a mariachi band playing and everything. Pretty sweet. And then I fell asleep, because, Pacific Time.
Sunday: Again, I’m still in a different time zone, so I was wide awake and ready to start my day at 6:30 am. Not super convenient, given that AM lives here and is used to this time zone. But, luckily for me, it gave me tons of time to work on homework, yay! So I did that until AM woke up, then we planned out the rest of my little trip. Then we went for a hike, which was beautiful. Then lunch and a tour of campus. And then, best part—we got to watch the winter finales of Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder together! Because everything is better with friends.
I have two more full days here, and I wish I could stay longer. But there is more fun in store, and I’m super excited about it.
Happy Thanksgiving week!
