Hi.

Welcome to my website. I mostly talk about books and writing, but you never know what else I might chat about. I'm glad you're here!

Movie Review - Gone Girl

Okay, so, Gone Girl was a fantastic movie adaptation. I thought other ones were good – Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars, for example. But this was better. This was FANTASTIC.gone-girl-movie-poster-2 If you haven’t read the book, I don’t want to spoil it, but here is what I thought.

Ben Affleck was sensational. He played Nick Dunne perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. It was almost like he was simply playing himself – he, as a person, sometimes comes off as aloof and above it all. And that’s Nick! That’s Nick to a tee. He was the perfect casting choice. Better than Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, and that’s saying something.

Rosamind Pike, though I’ve never heard of her, played the perfect Amy. As I told my boss when she asked me about it, she’s got the crazy eyes down pat. I can totally believe her as that character. Everything about her was fake and terrible and lovely, all at the same time.

The supporting characters were equally excellent, and there are two that I want to mention specifically. Patrick Fugit! Oh, I was so happy to see him in something again! He was my favorite puppy dog in Saved, following Jena Malone’s Mary around like she was about to give him a treat. And he was equally wonderful in Gone Girl, all grown up and cynical, at best. He had some great quip, and was just all around a great second-hand man to the lead detective. And then there’s Neil Patrick Harris. Gosh, I can always rave about Neil Patrick Harris, can’t I? He played Desi like he was Barney Stinson, but a little bit more sinister, a little bit more terrifying, but in a way that I can’t completely place. He was wonderful. Everyone was wonderful.

GO SEE GONE GIRL. You won’t regret it.
