Hi.

Welcome to my website. I mostly talk about books and writing, but you never know what else I might chat about. I'm glad you're here!

10 Things Every Girl in Her 20s Should Know (from laurenconrad.com)

It’s late already (busy day!), so this won’t be quite as extensive as usual. But I thought that this was a really cool little article on LC’s website, and I wanted to share. You can read the original here.

10 Things Every Girl in Her Twenties Should Know:

  1. Learn how to manage your budget. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH. Knowing how to manage your money is the most important thing involved in living on your own. You don’t want to be in debt your whole life, and it’s never too early to start saving. Make a budget and stick to it! (Granted, that’s easier said than done, but do your best.)
  2. Interview like a boss. A great life skill to have. You want them to love you, to remember you, and you want to be able to get your career in gear. The best thing I ever did was have a fake interview recorded. Then I could see myself and watch how I responded and reacted to things. It was so helpful.
  3. Keep your skin young. Facewash. Sunscreen. Moisturizer. That is all.
  4. Cherish your friendships. It’s this time after college, but before we start having families where you really discover who your true friends are. Sometimes things turn out differently than you’d expect. Sometimes friends leave. But this is when you learn who the most important people in your life are, and you need to hold on to your relationships with those people.
  5. Dress to impress. Find clothes that fit you and that are appropriate, and just rock them. Your body is yours forever. So accept it, embrace it, and work it.
  6. Don’t make the same mistake twice. By this time, you should be learning from your mistakes. Everyone makes them, but it’s up to you to accept them, learn from them, and then move on.
  7. Speak up for yourself. Seriously. Don’t just stand there and take any sort of abuse. Let them know that you’re a force. Don’t overdo it, though. There’s a fine line.
  8. Take a compliment. This one has always been hard for me. I don’t see myself in the same way that other people see me. H has helped me with this quite a bit. And I’ve finally reached the point in life where I’m trying to be the person he sees, rather than the person I’ve always see in the mirror.
  9. You don’t always have to be right. Everyone is wrong sometimes. The bravest people, the ones I truly admire – they’re the ones who admit it when they are wrong. And I respect them so much more for it.
  10. Don’t lose the child in you. I love this. I’m a five-year-old on the inside, I swear. You can’t lose that part of you either. So have fun!

Is there anything else you think should be on the list? I love the original, but I bet people could think of more.

Happy Friday!
