Hi.

Welcome to my website. I mostly talk about books and writing, but you never know what else I might chat about. I'm glad you're here!

Welp, this season of the Bachelorette has now ended.  Andi chose her man.  And were any of us surprised by her choice?  No, not particularly.  Were any of us disappointed?  Well.  Not really, because good reality TV involves disappointments and some surprises.  But, I can honestly say that I hoped she’d choose someone else. Let’s start from the beginning (of the episode).andi dorfman bachelorette

First, both men met her family.  They grilled Nick and then Josh, and both Nick and Josh got permission from Andi’s dad to propose to her.  Then, they each got one last date with her.  This is what K, our little Bachelorette watching party group, and I discovered:

While we didn’t particularly like either final contestant, there were awkward silences with Nick that weren’t there when she was talking to Josh.  This, in and of itself, made it pretty obvious what her choice was going to be.

Next, there was a lot of balcony staring.  And Andi walked around outside in a silk nighty with a tiny robe over it.  She says she knows what her decision is.

Neil Lane shows up at Josh’s door.  Man, that man is leathery.  It’s a bit frightening, let’s be honest.  They look at gigantic diamond rings, and Josh choose the largest of them all.  It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but having just gotten engaged, I can honestly say YIKES.  I would never want something that valuable on my finger.  It would scare the crap out of me.

bachelorette former baseball player

Also worthy of note, Josh says that he’s had very few important days in his life, but one of them was the day he got drafted to the MLB.  Sweet way to bring up the fact that your job title on the show is “former professional baseball player.”

Anyway. I digress.

There is a knock on Nick’s door next, and come on, we all know it’s Neil Lane, right?  WRONG!  It’s Andi!  And, based on what happened with Chris the Farmer, I think it’s pretty clear what is about to happen.  But Charrison goes to commercial, and then tries to poll the former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants as to what is going to happen next.  Everyone knows, but some people lie fairly convincingly.

Well, Andi breaks up with Nick, sending him home before he even gets his fancy-pants suit on.  Nick sad.  bachelorette nick hates everythingNick pathetically watches Andi drive away in the rain.  Then Nick packs up his tiny suitcase and heads to the airport.

Blah blah blah.  Josh wears the tightest suit ever and proposes to Andi while sweating like a pig.  Andi accepts.  They live happily ever after?  We’ll see.

Then, on after the final rose, we learn that Nick is continually trying to contact Andi, and she’s having none of it.  He writes her a letter and uses Charrison as a messenger, but she still doesn’t respond.  But they finally have to come face to face on ATFR.  And Nick is SO bitter.

After questioning whether Andi ever had any feelings for him at all, he asks her ON NATIONAL TELEVISION why, if she didn’t love him, did she MAKE LOVE to him?  WHAT.  No.  No no no no no.  Yikes.  At that moment, I feel bad for Andi, whose father is probably watching.  Poor Hy.  Nick, you could have left with your dignity intact if you hadn’t gone there.

LOOK AT ANDI'S FACE.

When Josh comes out, he and Andi are all smiles.  And I’m pleased to announce that his suit actually fits him this time!  Hooray!  This part is boring, because they do seem genuinely happy.bachelorette atfr1

Anyway. We don’t know who the new Bachelor is going to be yet, because they’re going to do Bachelor in Paradise first. It looks intriguing, so I’ll probably watch that, too.  But no promises on recaps.  I think I’ll stick to PLL for the rest of the summer.

Laters, baby.
